Cooper Thayer is a Colorado real estate broker with The Thayer Group, where he has helped close 780+ transactions totaling $412M+ in volume across 36+ Colorado communities since the team's founding in 2008. He joined The Thayer Group full-time in 2022 as a Broker Associate and also serves as Chief Market Strategist for Keller Williams Realty's Colorado Region, turning transaction-level data into pricing and positioning guidance for agents across the state.

 

Cooper is an emerging leader in the Colorado real estate industry, passionate about providing clients with world-class representation while serving the real estate community as a market statistics expert and legislative advocate. He is highly involved at both the local and state level: he currently serves as 2026 Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® (DMAR), stepping into President-Elect in 2027 and President in 2028. At the Colorado Association of REALTORS® (CAR), he serves as Market Spokesperson for Denver and Douglas Counties, Vice Chair of the Legislative Policy Committee (LPC) and incoming Chair for 2026–27, and a trustee of the CAR Political Action Committee (CARPAC).

 

Cooper has been featured as a keynote speaker at events such as the CAR Economic Summit, the Rocky Mountain Summit, the Colorado Broker Summit, and the Colorado Association of Tax Appraisers Annual Conference. He regularly provides key insights to legislative decision-makers on real estate issues, presenting to task forces and testifying in legislative committees at the State Capitol. His market analysis is regularly featured in publications including The Denver Post, Denver Business Journal, ABC Denver 7, The Colorado Sun, and more.

 

Cooper is the author of Mastering Market Trends: A Field Guide to Understanding and Interpreting Real Estate Data. Drawing on years of hands-on transaction experience and original research into how listings, pricing, and financing actually behave in the market, the book offers a practical framework for reading residential real estate markets with more context, discipline, and judgment, built from thousands of real closings rather than headline statistics, so any reader can learn to approach the market for themselves.

 

Outside of work, Cooper enjoys playing squash, golf, photography, and watching Jeopardy! with friends.

 

Cooper is a graduate of the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration with dual emphases in Finance and Real Estate, and a minor in Economics.
